NJ Shelley’s review

Good, lively story that should hold a young reader’s attention: Previewing the book, I thoroughly enjoyed the story in ways beyond what I expected.
Not only was it a lively read, the author was able to speak in the voice of that ‘inner teenage child’ which brought me back to my own teenage years! I could hear my “high school self” in Katie’s thoughts and assessments, her reactions to social issues, grappling through the navigation of relationships and responsibilities—and confronting a lot of it in a foreign environment!
I recommended Heart of the Castle to my book club friends who were lamenting the lack of interest in their kids reading habits.
