“Scritch Scratch,” by Lindsay Currie, is bound to keep MG readers turning pages as they look to find out what will happen to the protagonist, Claire. Right from the start when Claire is asked to help her dad with his ghost tour business, the young reader will share Claire’s anxiety about being around ghosts. And, if they aren’t afraid of ghosts, they may be, like Claire, afraid of what their friends think of her and her “weird dad.”
Yes, Claire’s fear of what her friends think of her causes her to alienate her best friend, Cas. But, when Claire becomes haunted by a young ghost boy who joins the tour, things go from bad to worse for Claire and even her friends.
Read “Scritch Scratch” to see if Claire will be able to get rid of her ghost friend and win back her friends, and catch up on her sleep. I do recommend this story.
