Never having read a Fear Street Novel, I wasn’t quite sure what I’d find reading “Can You Keep a Secret?” by R.L. Stine. This YA mystery-thriller was good enough to keep me reading, but I didn’t find it an amazing read. The characters did things in the story that didn’t seem logical, even for 16 year olds in a difficult situation. There was also a folklore aspect to the story that didn’t have the effect that I’ve seen in other books.
I must say that there were several twists and turns to the story to keep the reader guessing, but they were not enough to help out the overall quality of the story. It seemed more like some of those twists and oddities just complicated the story, bringing it down.
