In spite of reading James Ponti’s 2nd book of his The Sherlock Society series, Hurricane Heist, before I could read the first in the series, I enjoyed it very much. James Ponti writes page turning, interesting MG mystery stories and this is no exception. He has a talent for incorporating the everyday lives of young people as they get involved in solving crimes. The protagonist, along with his sister, two friends, and his grandfather make up the members of the Sherlock Society. Together, they delve into a cold case when a hurricane uncovers the body of a man accused of a crime committed during a similar hurricane some 60-years earlier. Guided in great part through the grandfather’s experience as a newspaper reporter, they hone their detective skills.
