FAQ

On April 22, 2023, I will be signing my “Faces in the Flames: A Ghost Story” book at the LA Times Festival of Books at USC. Come see me and say hello. I’ll be in booth 022.

My latest book (the 3rd in the Ghost Stories series) is finished and became available in 2025. It’s title is, “Secret in Stratford: A Ghost Story” and it includes Cam, Katie, John, and now Ruth. The main three characters all visit Ruth in her home town of Stratford-upon-Avon, once home to William Shakespeare and his family. It’s available at Amazon, B&N, Follett, Books-A-Million, and almost everywhere!

I’ve added a short story for my Ghost Stories series (you can get the story for free on my homepage). I’m working on some more short stories that will go deeper into the characters’ back stories. Like my first short story, these will be available to my readers at no cost to them.
Also, I’ve translated my Ron & Bob Stories into bi-lingual versions (English/Spanish) and those are now available.

Although the Ron and Bob Stories are not written about the author and his brother, the author and his brother are identical twins. They’ve had a lot of people mix them up and have many “twin” stories.

R. Fulleman is a certified SCUBA diver, but he has never actually dove on the USS Mississinewa at Ulithi. He does have several friends who have and has taken portions of their adventures to include into Faces in the Flames: A Ghost Story.

I’ve always liked writing, ever since I was in Junior High. My English teacher, Mr. Schmelling encouraged all his students to write stories. Much later, my wife came home one day (she is a Teacher Librarian) and told me how a struggling reader at her school needed a very low-level book, but was embarrased to be seen with one of the “little kids” books she had available. It was then that I decided to write a book (It turned out to be a 3-book series) that would appeal to Middle Grade readers, while being only at a 2nd grade reading level. Also, I designed the covers with age appropriate artwork. Teachers and Librarians who have passed along success stories from their students being finally able to read an entire book spurred me on to want to supply more books that are easy to read.

Be a reader before you become a writer. Reading will give you insights into styles and genres you may be interested in using in your writing. After that, just write all the time. It doesn’t have to be perfect the first time you put something down on paper (or a computer screen), in fact, it is sure not to be. But, as I always say, it’s easier to edit something that to come up with the idea in the first place. So, modify/edit until you get your writing to where you want it to be.

Faces in the Flames: A Ghost Story was written at a 3.5 grade reading level. Heart of the Castle and Secret in Stratford are at a 4.0 grade reading level to make them easier for teens and young adults who might be struggling to read at their grade level. It’s an ideal book for MLL students, too. In spite of the lower reading levels, the books have a lot of adults, young and old, who enjoy the stories. Readers have told me these books are great to read when you have a busy schedule and don’t have a lot of time to enjoy reading the much longer books that require a larger time commitment. Give them a try. I think you will like them too.
